Face-To-Face Class

Activity Proposal

  • Activity topic: Dream vacation.
  • Competences: Understands texts about places to visit and activities to do on vacation.
  • People involved: Teacher as a leader of information to be applied during the class moments / Students who are going to be active throughout the whole session since all the information given to them will be continuously practiced.
  • Devices: Videobeam, laptop, video, worksheets.
  • Evaluation proposal: Teacher involves students in presentation, elicits information from them, supervises the groups organization, and shows them what to print for the whole term.

Class description:

Students watch a video called Mr. Bean – Packing For Holiday (https://youtu.be/6r0dr_juOiI).

Then, they are asked to guess what the topic for the class is. Up next, teachers let students start saying possible ideas. As soon as a student says the words “Vacation” or “Holiday”, teachers stop the brainstorm.

Teachers ask students for vocabulary they can think of when hearing any of those two terms. Possible vocabulary that can come up would be: travel, bus, free time, beach, family, dance, sun, money, activities, sports, airplane, ticket, food, drinks, clothes, shopping malls, friends, etc. So teachers show a Powerpoint presentation with some gifs along with their corresponding words, which can be taken into account for future individual glossaries.

As soon as teachers gather this information, teachers ask these 3 following questions: Where do you want to go on your vacation? Who do you want to go with? and What are some of the things you need for your vacation? Students are allowed to use some of the ideas from the video by creating sentences starting with “I want” or “I need…”

Teachers introduce WH Questions / Frequency Adverbs presentations. Right after, students start participating by sharing their vacation experiences to their classmates in a Q&A interaction. That way they will be able to apply all information shown through the class. Teacher will be assessing any doubts students might have.
